Fed up with the same old arguments?

Roxburgh’s Politics brings philosophy, history and culture into current affairs to challenge familiar arguments and offer a different perspective. Every Thursday, receive a free essay that explains its reasoning, takes disagreement seriously and challenges your assumptions.

A different way into the debate

Roxburgh’s Politics looks at the ideas behind the headlines and the wider intellectual forces at play.

Recent essays explore questions such as:

  • Could a fairer voting system deepen distrust in democracy?

  • What does Britain still have to offer the world?

  • If AI democratises authorship, how will we find work worth reading?

Alongside the weekly essays, I write a monthly series which explores artificial intelligence.

You’ll find definite opinions here, with reasoning laid out for you to question. You do not need a philosophy degree, or to share my politics, to join the discussion.

One new essay every Thursday. Free, straight to your inbox.

Why me?

I read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford before completing a master’s at LSE. I am now training to become a maths teacher.

That combination shapes my writing: I can draw on both my rigorous academic training and a career in the public sector, outside of the Westminster bubble.

I previously wrote for Watchtower Politics before launching Roxburgh’s Politics as an independent publication in September 2026.

If you want to do more…

All weekly essays are free. If you would like to support my writing and take the discussion further, paid subscribers also receive a quarterly Q&A and monthly reading recommendations.
